Science Project

Papaw gave us some coal last August and a recipe for a project to make crystals grow on the coal. Well it only took me 10 months to gather everything else we needed to get this project growing. I forgot to take a picture when we mixed the stuff, but by the next day it had already begun to grow.

I didn't use food coloring like the recipe said, didn't see the point with all the laundry bluing, but next time we will try it. Above is after just one day.

A couple days later we have some serious growth. Jud enjoys checking it each morning.

Wow, that is some crazy crystal growing after about a week, this is what we have. The one area looks like cauliflower to me. It was a fun project and we may try it again soon. If anyone wants the recipe and some coal let me know, I may be able to get more.

Hawaain Falls

It has been a busy month. Jud is all healed up from surgery and doing great. He has been playing lots of hockey, scoring goals and blocking shots. When we aren't doing that we try to fit in some fun. We had a fun Friday afternoon at Hawaain Falls recently. Marc and Jud tried out the Half Pipe. They both cackled like girls. Jud wanted to do it all day. I guess we won't be going back with out Dad along since Mama doesn't do this one.

Mama's new Tattoo

My friend Yvette and I went to a tattoo place in Denton last night, Aces Tattoo. I have been wanting another tattoo for a while so we finally just went. Our friend Chris' son works there, Wes. I took in a drawing I found Googling. I got an artist named Jay, who had one of the coolest cross tattoos I have ever seen, so my tat was right up his alley. I have 3 already so I knew that it would hurt, but had also heard that on the foot is especially painful. It really wasn't too bad, I played games on my phone and FaceBooked the whole time. We all know how distracting that can be. Well I absolutly love it.

Surgery Day

Jud had to have surgery on his eyes to correct his alignment. It seemed like a pretty straight forward procedure, in and out in a couple hours. Well, it went very well until he woke up. Apparently the Versed can cause a pretty bad emotional reaction. To say Jud totally freaked out would be pretty mild. He threw a screaming, pounding raging fit, none the likes I have ever seen. He has night terrors and has even had a couple cases of sleep walking, that were pretty mild in comparison. The "high" before surgery was so not worth the "hangover". But all in all it went well as far as they could tell. He goes to the doctor Tuesday for post-op check-up.

Jud hardly opened his eyes on Friday so this is the day after. He thought it was pretty cool, and even wanted a vampire costume. What a weirdo. I will say during his "fit" after surgery he cried a blood tear, way cooler in the movies than coming out of my 5 year old. We are told to expect them to look worse before they get better, pretty gross. We may be spending a lot of time in the house for a while.

Dad's Home

Yeah, Dad is finally home!!!!
Jud had to help Dad shave his hairy face. Poor kid about wore himself out trying to pack 2 months of play into 5 hours. We keep explaining that Dad is home for a while and will be able to play all weekend.

May Daze

May went by in a daze of activity. The first half was pretty slow, but after Mother's Day we kicked into high gear. We spent a lot of time out of doors, so much so that I decided to re-decorate my patio with Jud's help. Nona came to visit and we had a great time. Jud "graduated" from pre-k.
( does anyone else think pre-k graduation is a little over the top?) Spent time with friends and got ready for Marc's return.

Jud made friends with a worm, this is a switch he usually doesn't like gross stuff.

Sharing a bowl of broccoli soup with Nona. He did tell her he only wanted the soup part. Translated means any chunks are going back in the bowl.

Jud with Ms. Alison and Ms. Debbie

Jud and Kayla made pizza for dinner. They had a lot of fun making the dough and doing their own toppings.

Dinner gets a 2 thumbs up!
